Error: No prices / no ticks (MT / weekends)

Created by Levi Dane, Modified on Tue, 30 Dec, 2025 at 5:30 AM by Levi Dane

Quick answer

If there are no ticks/prices, the receiver platform can’t execute or manage trades properly.

  1. Confirm the market is open
  2. Confirm the symbol chart is active and receiving prices
  3. Confirm the MT terminal is logged in and connected

Symptoms

  • Logs show "no prices", "no ticks", or execution fails silently
  • MT chart is frozen (no moving bid/ask)

Most common causes

  • Weekend (FX closed)
  • MT terminal disconnected or logged out
  • No chart open for the symbol (platform dependent)
  • Broker feed issues

Fix steps

  1. Check the day/time (weekend vs weekday)
  2. In MT4/MT5: - Confirm connection indicator is green - Open the symbol chart and ensure it updates
  3. Restart MT4/MT5 if the feed is stuck

Verify it worked

  1. Confirm prices are moving on the chart
  2. Place a tiny test trade during market hours
  3. Confirm in Logs it was copied
